"Pelvic Floor

Susana and her approach to pelvic floor training are amazing! I had very week pelvic floor and Diastasis Recti after giving birth, which were causing back pain and other problems. Neither Pilates nor physio did any good, but I started noticing great improvements already within a month or so after starting working with Susana. I have done ~20 classes now and no back pain, much stronger pelvic floor and core, and DR much improved. As a nice bonus, my tummy now is much flatter than before I had a baby :)"

Pelvic Floor Therapy

Concept

A normally functioning pelvic floor supports the pelvic organs, is able to tense to ensure continence, relax when passing water and stools, tense reflectors during abdominal pressure-increasing activities (coughing, sneezing, lifting), and tense or relax during sexual activity. Problems with the pelvic floor muscles can have a variety of effects. In women, they often occur after pregnancies or in case of overweight. The bladder or uterus can sink, which often leads to incontinence. In both sexes, the pelvic floor muscles weaken over time. Physical overload, poor posture and operations in the pelvic area can be other reasons for a sagging pelvic floor. Urinary incontinence is only one of the problems that can be attributed to a weakened pelvic floor. Fecal incontinence, flatulence, bladder, uterus and bowel prolapse also occur, as well as various sexual problems such as pain during intercourse (dyspareunia) or vaginal cramps (vaginismus). Important components of the treatment are training the perception of the pelvic floor and its correct activation and relaxation, the development or adaptation of helpful behavior, targeted strengthening and training of the pelvic floor muscles and their integration into every day and sports activities. In case of pain, tension or trigger points in the pelvic floor, intravaginal or rectal treatment techniques reduce the symptoms. Pelvic floor rehabilitation comprises an overall concept with measures that extend beyond pelvic floor exercises to posture, breathing and behavioral training

Objectives

  • Normalization of the pelvic floor tension
  • Muscle function improvement
  • Reduction of incontinence and prolapse
  • Optimization of prostate functions (for men)
  • Optimization of sexual activity
  • Training and perception of the pelvic floor

Methodology

An assessment of your pelvic floor status is the basis for a targeted treatment. Under professional guidance, the muscles hidden in the abdomen can be treated and well trained again. Based on a conversation and a detailed examination, we determine the goals of the therapy. Our specialized physiotherapists use a wide range of methods. These include relaxation exercises, techniques for the targeted strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles, learning the correct toilet behavior. With the so-called biofeedback, the muscle contraction can be measured objectively. A probe is inserted into the vagina or anus. The associated measuring device shows graphically whether and to what extent the pelvic floor muscles are tensed

Pelvic Floor Check Up

Concept

The pelvic floor status assessment consists of a physical examination with a discussion about any pelvic/core health issues. The discussion covers mode of delivery, ergonomics with the baby, return to fitness goals and/or regular life. The check-up includes a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s body and breathing method. The check-up also includes a review of incisions and scar tissue, which are often damaged by childbirth. Safe, evidence-based, progressive exercises give the therapist a complete picture of the health of the pelvic floor

Objectives

  • General overview of pelvic floor health and core
  • Coordination of the general and specific physical recovery pathway
  • Definition of functional recovery goals
  • Definition of aesthetic recovery goals
  • Definition of fitness recovery goals
  • Improving general health status

Methodology

Our specialized physiotherapists use a wide range of methods. These include relaxation exercises, techniques for targeted strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles, analysis of the external and internal muscle fasciae. Analysis of posture and general body behavior. Analysis of the birth process and coping with the physical consequences

Jaw Therapy

Concept

Not only when chewing and grinding, but also when speaking and even when breathing, the jaw controls and manages complex coordinated movements. Furthermore, the jaw joint is of particular importance for the statics of our body. The effects of a disturbed interaction between the upper and lower jaw, skull and cervical spine are immense and affected patients often have severe pain and discomfort. These include disturbances caused by an operation, a broken jaw or radiation with subsequent limited jaw mobility. It very often happens that the skull (Latin cranio) and the lower jaw (mandible) do not fit together perfectly. In jaw physiotherapy, this is called craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD). One only speaks of a CMD when patients suffer from it and report to their doctor or dentist. Mostly they complain of pain in the chewing muscles, the jaw joint or in the ears. CMD patients often also believe that they suffer from migraines. There are many reasons for CMD: Stress, developmental disorders of the jaws or malpositioned teeth can have negative effects. In addition, poor posture is also a contributing factor to the problem (the jaw opens more smoothly with a straight back than with a bent posture)

Objectives

  • Reduction of painful disorder
  • Improvement of the joint function
  • Improvement of muscular dysfunctions in the chewing apparatus, cervical spine and shoulder girdle
  • Optimisation of the conditions in the head, neck and shoulder girdle area
  • Release of tension in the neck and back area
  • Treatment of Bruxism (teeth grinding)

Methodology

Manual therapy is used as the basic methodology. A joint and cranial mobilisation is the focus of the first phase. Muscle stretches and trigger points are treated. Stabilisation exercises, exercises to improve the coordination of mouth, tongue, lip and cervical spine movements complete our methodology process

Stage Art Therapy

Concept

Musical physical activity, whether in a conscious or unconscious way, is a demanding physical activity that causes very high calorie consumption. High muscle activation is achieved with intensities very similar to those of professional athletes. The instrument is a physical requirement with which the musician brings the instrumental performance to life. The aim of the treatment is to achieve an optimal state of health by improving all interpretation skills of the professional performance. The complete and personalized treatment is not based only on the optimization of the physical condition. The emotional and physical qualities of the musician’s work are always taken into account. In the same way we teach how to perform different work patterns, both outside and inside the instrumental work, in order to develop different neurological and motor channels and to minimize the consequences of repetitive movements and incorrect postures. On a preventive level, we create an exercise table that takes into account the physical condition of each musician and posture rehabilitation to avoid the most common injuries depending on the instrument

Objectives

  • Improvement motor gesture & consideration instrument
  • Optimization of energy expenses
  • Improvement of balance & coordination
  • Optimization of physical stability and flexibility
  • Mastery of strength & weight control

Methodology

In the treatments we not only look for the cause of the injury, the diagnosis and the necessary treatment that requires physiotherapy or rehabilitation, but we also ensure from the first moment ergonomic and postural prevention

Lymphdrainage

Concept

The lymphatic system is the most important transport system of the body besides the blood circulation. It serves to transport waste products and nutrients to and from the cells. It also serves the immune system, because lymph fluid transports bacteria and other pathogens to the lymph nodes, where they are disposed of. Lymph drainage is a form of treatment that supports and stimulates the lymph vessel system throughout the body. The lymphatic system starts activated and the tissue relaxed with gentle rhythmic, painless and slow circular and spiral movements along the lymphatic pathways. The pressure within the blood vessels presses the aqueous part of the blood together with nutrients, vitamins, minerals, oxygen and also drug substances from the fine arterial blood capillaries into the tissue. This blood plasma flows into space between the cells and is food for them. The cells take out all the substances they need for themselves and their work. At the same time there is a release of their metabolic end products such as hormones, but also all waste products and carbon dioxide into this fluid. In the lymph nodes, which are connected as filter stations in this pipe system, the lymph is cleaned, viruses and bacteria are killed

Objectives

  • Relief from water retention during pregnancy
  • Treatment of post-traumatic bruising
  • Treatment of post-operative swelling
  • Treatment of primary or secondary lymphatic drainage disorders
  • Treatment of venous diseases

Methodology

With SaansCore, lymph congestions in the tissue are removed both manually and mechanically. The physiotherapist, who is trained in lymph drainage, uses specific hand movements and bandages. A specific device is also available to facilitate the removal of lymph

Kinesiotape

Concept

Kinesiotape is a stretchy adhesive tape made of cotton without any medication. The effect is only achieved by pulling on the receptors (nerve endings in the skin) and the fasciae (a kind of subcutaneous tissue) via the skin. Because the tape has the same elasticity and thickness as human skin, the tape adapts particularly well to every natural movement of the body. Kinesiotape stays on the skin for four to seven days and is waterproof. Kinesiotape is used for various complaints and injuries. The body’s own healing process is stimulated by providing support and stability without affecting mobility. For this reason, medical tape is often used as a complementary treatment method. When the Kinesiotape is applied, the muscles and joints are brought into a stretched position and then the tape is applied to the skin. This allows the body to maintain complete freedom of movement. As soon as the body (part) returns to a relaxed position, the tape lifts the skin a little. This can be observed very well by the waves of the tape. The tape activates the analgesic system

Objectives

  • Treatment of fascial complaints
  • Reduction of pain and injuries
  • Improvement of the microcirculation
  • Stimulation of the lymphatic system
  • Improvement of the muscle function

Methodology

Kinesiotape cannot be used as a sole therapy, but always as a support, preferably after careful examination. There are no generally valid prescriptions for the adhesive variant, but it is applied according to the symptoms of the patient

Trigger Points

Concept

With a myofascial trigger point therapy, so-called myofascial trigger points are treated in the muscle. Myofascial trigger points are painful, tense areas in a person’s muscle. They affect both the muscle, therefore “myo” (myós is Greek and means muscle), and the fascia, therefore “fascial”. Myofascial trigger points are among the most common causes of chronic pain in the musculoskeletal system – so-called myofascial pain. They can occur anywhere on the body. A professional trigger point therapy provides lasting relief from tension and thus also from pain. Thus, the localization of your pain can already give us an indication of which muscle is responsible for it. Through a targeted treatment, including dosed pressure, a trigger point can be released and the pain disappears. This pressure is quite painful in the first moment, but the pain subsides quickly

Objectives

  • Release of local muscle contractions
  • Improvement of the blood circulation
  • Reduction of the inflammatory reaction
  • Restoration of mobility
  • Removal of incorrect physical strain

Methodology

There are basically two different methods of treating trigger points: manual trigger point therapy and dry needling. Parallel to the trigger point therapy, specific exercises are also provided so that new trigger points do not form again in the long term

Manual Therapy

Concept

Manual therapy is a form of physiotherapy used to remedy functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. These dysfunctions can be limitations of mobility and/or pain. With the help of targeted mobilisation, stretching and relief techniques, the complaints are alleviated. Manual therapy pays particular attention to the movement of the joints, but also to muscles and nerves. If these movement sequences are disturbed, this can lead to complaints and pain in the musculoskeletal system. By removing these disturbances, which are often called blockages, the complaints can also be solved. Often, injured tissue is not strong enough at the beginning of the therapy to be able to work on the power equipment. Joints and muscles must therefore first be mobilized passively, i.e. by the hands of the therapist. Manual therapy is therefore a component of many physiotherapeutic treatments

Areas of Application

  • Spinal Column Complaints (including Herniated Disc)
  • Back pain
  • Articular pain
  • Muscle aches
  • Rheumatic diseases
  • Sciatica (irritation of the sciatic nerve)
  • Articular Arthrosis

Methodology

We offer both mobilisation and manipulation depending on the indication and symptoms. Manipulations are of course only carried out after consultation with the patient. Manual therapy helps with complaints in almost all articulations
